Book MOT

Book your MOT online today.

An honest MOT, from an honest garage.

An MOT is an annual test that ensures your vehicle meets the minimum required standards set by the DVSA. We promise to offer a fair MOT test, 100% of the time.

Book your MOT test online at Shaikly EV Specialists. It’s easy! Simply enter your vehicle registration, choose your desired location and choose a time that suits you!

When Is My MOT Due?

To check if your electric or hybrid vehicle has a valid MOT and find out when your next test is due, visit the DVSA website and enter your vehicle registration number. Alternatively, you can refer to your current MOT certificate, which will display the expiry date.

You can book your MOT test at any time before it expires. However, to preserve your existing renewal date, the test must be carried out up to one month (minus a day) before your current MOT expires. For example, if your MOT expires on 27th June, the earliest date you can take the test and retain the same renewal date for the following year is 28th May.

EV and Hybrid Free MOT Reminders

It’s easy to lose track of when your MOT test is due, but ensuring it stays up to date is crucial. Driving without a valid MOT certificate could lead to a £2,500 fine and may even invalidate your car insurance.

To help you stay on top of your renewal, we offer an MOT reminder service for electric and hybrid vehicles. Simply enter your details below, and we’ll send you email or text reminders ahead of your next test.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do electric vehicles need an MOT?
Yes. Electric vehicles still require an annual MOT once they reach three years old. The test is mostly the same as petrol or diesel vehicles, apart from the emissions test which does not apply to EVs.
Do hybrid vehicles need an MOT?
Yes. Hybrids follow the same MOT rules as any other vehicle. They still need a full MOT every year, including checks on brakes, tyres, suspension, lights, steering and safety systems.
Is the MOT different for electric vehicles?
The process is almost identical. Electric vehicles do not have an emissions test, but everything else is checked to the same DVSA standards, including brakes, tyres, suspension and structural safety.
What do MOT testers look for on EVs and hybrids?
The MOT covers all standard DVSA checks such as brakes, tyres, lights, suspension and vehicle structure. Testers also look for safe and secure high voltage cabling and components, but they do not open or dismantle the battery system.
Are MOTs cheaper for electric or hybrid vehicles?
No. The price of an MOT is the same for electric, hybrid, petrol and diesel vehicles. EVs skip the emissions test, but the overall MOT fee remains the same and follows the DVSA recommended price.
